Beautiful Turf Can Be Sustainable Too: Every Drop Counts

A deep root system will also make turf more drought-resistant. Heavy water demand is yet another negative environmental impact of turf. Fortunately, there are several straightforward ways to conserve water.

Turf only needs 25 mm (1 in.) of water per week, at most. It is better to water deeply once a week, early in the morning, than to water a few times lightly. It will save you money on your water bill, in the long run, if you upgrade to one of the several ‘smart’ irrigation systems on the market that will help track the weather and further minimize water waste by only watering when necessary.
