Lifestyle backyard becomes ultimate entertainment retreat
Project by Solda Pools Ltd.
Tucked amidst an oasis of tall trees, shrubs, perennials, and grasses, this pool and spa installation in Oakville, Ont., mimics a natural-looking environment. A harmonious blend of natural materials and native plantings lend an organic, free-flowing charm to the backyard, which complements the overall look of the property.
The project was designed with entertainment and socialization in mind, offering a comfortable space for the homeowner to enjoy the outdoors with friends and family. Featuring sun and shade seating, a spill-over spa, and an outdoor entertainment area, this sanctuary is an entertainer’s dream.
The 7- x 12-m (22- x 40-ft) curvilinear, gunite concrete pool has a 2.4 m (8 ft) depth, and is decorated with glass tiles and Pebble Tec plaster finishes. The elevated 2.1-m (7-ft) wide overflow spa attached to the pool is built with the same material to create a cohesive space.
A meandering waterfall cascades down a large, poolside rockscape creating the soothing sound of moving water. Carefully placed fire features within this hardscaping catch the eye instantly. The Eramosa flagstone deck coping surrounding the pool pairs elegantly with the natural setting. At pool level, a number of chaise lounges can be strategically placed around the expansive deck for sunbathing and poolside lounging. A 3- x 10-m (10- x 32-ft) sheltered cabana equipped with a bar, dining space, comfortable seating, and outdoor entertainment amenities brings the homeowner’s vision to life. The adjoining cookout barbeque completes the overall look of the lounge area.
Solda Pools strategically installed outdoor lighting throughout the backyard and in various garden pockets to accentuate feature areas of this large expanse at night. Lush foliage in the background exquisitely contrasts with the concrete hardscaping to create an inviting look.
Solda Pools Ltd., handled all pool components of this project, along with the decking, tiling, and landscaping. A separate contractor was hired to build the cabana.
